Robert Halliday

Monhegan Island! Its rocky cliffs and pounding seas have been a course of inspiration for painters over the years. The lighthouse has its own special story to tell. Remote and stoic, it speaks of the harsh realities and heroic lives of seamen and their families. Indomitable, in the slanting sun of evening, the house seems waiting – for the next challenge to its courage and tenacity. Robert paints on location in Maine, the Southwest and abroad, and his work has been presented in a number of solo exhibitions, regional and national shows.  His work is included in a recent book tracing the development of landscape painting in the US–“The Artist and the American Landscape”.
