"To Paint 'Daylilies on a Cliff,' I set up my easel on rocks and seaweed at the base of a Maine island cliff. From this vantage point I could capture the intensity of orange daylilies seen against the bright blue summer sky. I was able to paint only at low tide, because at high tide the water came in where I stood."
